Weekend Roundup

Here is the latest weather forecast from Environment Canada:

Tropical storm warning: Queens County: A TROPICAL STORM WARNING MEANS THAT SUSTAINED GALES...WINDS OF 63 KM/H OR MORE...ARE EXPECTED IN THE SPECIFIED AREAS WITHIN 24 HOURS. BY NATURE A TROPICAL STORM ALSO IMPLIES THE THREAT OF LOCAL FLOODING FROM HEAVY RAINFALL.

So it sounds like it isn't going to be too bad after all! We are going to Lunenburg to dinner this evening and would have probably had to cancel, if it was still going to be a hurricane. Rain and winds tomorrow are good reasons to stay inside and knit though! And speaking of knitting.........

BIL's Thujas are finished! The Rogers Cup Ladies tennis was on yesterday and I watched and knit and knit and watched some more and finished knitting the socks last night at 11:55. Too worn out from the amazing match last evening to graft the toes and sew in the ends then, so they were finished this morning. Soaked in a lanolin bath and blocked. I hope they fit as they are going to the UK. John tried them on and they fit him and I think the recipient has a similar size foot!

Also I received a parcel in the mail today with my prize yarn from the Sock A Month KAL. My name was drawn for the month of July. And here is my yarn. Does anyone look at this yarn and think Heather? I know that was the first thought I had upon seeing it!! :))

Now I am off to start the little vest for Hunter. Not sure if I should knit the size 12 - 18 months size or size 2. He turned 1 in May and is about 24 pounds. Any suggestions?

And I think I will also cast on another pair of the gorgeous Just Because I Like'em Socks. This time they will be called " Like'em, I Love'em!"

That's definitely Heather yarn! lol! It's funny, I finished up my Kroy FX socks last night around the same time. And I started a vest tonight, too. Mine is for a yet-to-be-born boy, so it's only a 6 months size. I'd go for size 2 probably if you've got enough yarn so he doesn't outgrow it too fast.

Love your Thujas! I think I'll make some for Christmas gifts. I've got four or so men I want to make socks for, these would be good, I think. I really like the contrasting cuff, heel, and toes.

I would go with a 2 as well. Maximum wearability. Lovely socks too :)

But don't forget he'll be wearing the vest for pictures next month.
