It is done. Finished. Complete.
My friend Knitweir from Ravelry came out yesterday afternoon and took one look at my attempt to sew it up and suggested we undo it and that she would sew it up. She did and it looks wonderful!! It would have totally ruined the sweater if I had sewed it up myself. One thing about this sweater ......... it absolutely will not be photographed so that the colour shows up properly. These were all taken at the same time in the same place, the top two with a flash and the bottom one without. The top two are closest to the actual colour of the sweater, but none of them do it justice.
And if I do say so, it looks pretty darn good! Of course the big test will be "Does it fit?" and if yes, "How does it look?" Pictures of that to follow when the recipient can model and we will all see for ourselves. I am slightly apprehensive but actually do think it will fit just fine as the measurements all came out as they should according to the pattern. Because I bought the yarn in Ottawa, I got 3 extra balls of the wool and I only have one left!
Now on to other projects. I have the second of this sock to finish by the end of November, another one of those little vests to knit for Hunter and a white hat to knit for Shannon. Busy fingers coming up!

Looks awesome. Can't wait to see it on the model.
It turned out great! I have a pair of socks that needs the second one before the end of the month, too.
It's absolutely beautiful!
beautiful! you are a lovely knitter
It looks great! Can't wait to try it on:)
I think it's beautiful , can't wait for the model shots ! I'm terrible at seaming , so consequently don't like making anything that requires it . I'll stick to the smaller non seaming projects . Mind you there is something to be said for the idea that practice makes perfect ...
Looking forward to the model shots; looks like a great sweater! I'm with you, no seaming is best for me :)
Have a sweater started for my Mom, was supposed to be for Mom for Christmas ... don't think it's going to happen. Will finish a shawl thing I started instead ... and take my time on the sweater.
