The pair of purple socks is finished. The striping came out pretty darn well, if I do say so myself. They will be packed in my suitcase when I go to Upper Canada.
I am working on this pair for Pete and with any luck will have them ready to take with me when I leave for Ottawa in the morning. I have been a clever knitter and left the toe ungrafted in case it is too big/small and I will be able to adjust it to fit perfectly!
In case anyone has not heard, Shannon delivered Leah Elizabeth at 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 22. Pictures can be seen on her blog, which she updated within 24 hours of the big event. Very clever girl, our Shan.
I am flying up there on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and arrive in Ottawa at 12:05. Paul and the boys are picking me up. I did offer to get a cab, but apparently a trip to the airport is a huge treat for the boys, hence my personal chauffeurs. I am taking my knitting with me and hope to knit another pair of socks with the yarn I won in Heddy's contest. Lovely and soft and pretty yarn!
On a non knitting note, our pasta buffet party went really well. We had 21 people and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time. If you go by the noise level, it went very well. And the whole pasta buffet, picking our exactly what you wanted and then having Mitchell, the caterer, cook it up for you, was a huge hit. People were standing and watching him cook, checking out what the others were choosing and just generally having fun. Then for dessert he did buffet crepes, again made for you whilst you choose what you wanted in it and he cooked it up for you. Mitchell is such a personable young man and has a running commentary and interaction with all the guests, so he is a major part of the party. Anyway, it was a great time and all I have to do today is put all the dishes, utensils, etc away.
I am going to the movie Atonement this afternoon with our movie friends. John isn't going, not his type of movie. But I am trying to see all the Oscar nominated movies, and it may not be here when I get home next weekend.
So this may be my last blog till I get home in a week or so.
Bye bye for now.

Both pairs of socks look great! Good idea to graft the toes after he tries them on. Have fun with the grandkids!
