Last Post of the Year

Here it is the 31st of December and we are having a party at our house tonight. First a wine tasting......every couple brings a bottle for the wine tasting and I have 6 little chinese dresses wine covers so it will be a blind wine tasting. I have downloaded score sheets off the net for everybody. Then you add them up to find a winner! The one who brings the winning bottle of wine wins a prize. Great fun!
Then following that we are having a pot luck dinner. I am providing the main course and the others are bringing appetizers, a veggie and desserts. By the time we are finished with the meal, it should be nearly midnight!

Unfortunately John and I both still have our colds, mine is mainly in my sinuses and nose. John seems to spend more time coughing so he is up in the air about whether he will be able to participate tonight and if so, how long before he folds. Hopefully he will be ok by tonight!

Apparently, ( I have been told by my daughter) I should update my blog with all major events. She seems to feel that the fact that I accidently drove my SUV into the local Irving Station wall/window qualifies as a major event. It happened on Friday, December 22 at 2:30 in the afternoon. I was going to run into the Irving Store to use the cash machine. I pulled into station to go into the nearest parking place and my brakes only worked to slow the car down, not stop it. No matter how hard I pressed on the brake, nothing was happening. So bang, crash, breaking glass, people running around everywhere! But the car stopped, so I put it in reverse and calmly parked it. Apparently I had my left foot, wide sneakers on, partially under the brake but I couldn't feel it, so by the time I figured out what was wrong, I was making the Irving Store a drive- through! The one good thing about this accident is that no one was hurt. There was nobody walking in front of me or in the store behind the window. I was not hurt but the front of my car took a hit. But even that doesn't look too bad. Truly a humiliating experience and I have been the recipient of huge numbers of jokes and potshots, all with good humour I must say. But it is starting to get old now. John assures me that something like this could be carried on for YEARS so get used to it! OK. I have confessed so onto knitting stuff.

After my fiasco with the boiled wool sweater, I have decided only to knit sweaters for the grandkids for a while. I found some Wool Gatto that I had left over from a blue sweater I knit for John and then all the partial balls I had left from the striped sweater and am knitting this for Pete. It looks a bit big, but it is the right dimensions. If it is too big, he will grow into it.

Then I bought yarn to knit this for Pete. I just love it and think it will look so cute on him. David is growing into all Pete's old sweaters, that's why these are all for Peter.

And finally I bought this to knit this sweater for Miss Reese. I know it is a lot of work for a baby's sweater, but it is just so darn cute.

Happy New Year to everyone!!

Bye bye for now. See you next year!

Those grandkid sweaters are soooo cute! I wish I had a girl. :( The boy sweaters are nice, too, but I adore that flower and sleeves on the girl sweater!

I pulled into Irving shortly after your incident, but I didn't know it was you til a day or two later. You aren't the first one to do it -- that's the third time that store was hit. No one was hurt is the main thing.

I drive too fast in reverse and get ribbed a lot for it. One time I was driving an old Tempest we had that Travis drove all the time. I think it was the first time I ever drove it, I backed into our big driveway, the grass was wet, and I didn't know the brakes sometimes were sticky. I hit our garage. I didn't do any damage to the car or garage, but it was a loooonnnngggg time before I heard the end of it.

Have a Happy New Year! We are going to a house party, then the fire hall dance. Hope you guys are feeling better tonight for your party.

Love those patterns...your daughter is quite right about major events. I reckon your doing a "takeaway" at the Irving is a major event, too!
