Button Hole Felted Purse finished

Just a quick post to show the finished purse and scarf. I bought a needle felting kit yesterday and tried adding some of the scarf yarn around the edge of the bag and then putting the initial S on it. Didn't come out too badly and if Shan doesn't like it, it is easy enough to remove.

I also learned that if you have a felted product that starts to wear or thin out, like slippers, you can use this technique to add more wool and felting to the sole and they should last a long time. You may have to do this more than once depending on how much wear and tear they get. So I may knit a new pair for my friend who scuffs his feet and wore his out in 2 months. He really loved the first pair but I just didn't want to knit another pair if they were going to wear out in 2 months again!! This sounds like the solution!!

FYI I was a big fan of the Eaglecam and now I have found this Africam and it is wonderful. It is a natural water hole in the prestigious Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, in South Africa. I am totally fascinated by it. This morning I saw a mother and baby giraffe! You can see the babe behind the mother in the brush. They are so gorgeous. I am totally enthralled with the site. The other thing is that they have a night light set up so you can see 24/7. And there is a cameraman there who zooms in on the wildlife and pans around the watering hole. But I guess they must take breaks, because there are some periods of inactivity. That can be a bit frustrating, but it is really just a small nitpick compared to the big picture we get of African wildlife!!!

And earlier in the week I caught a few zebra taking a drink with a herd of wildebeests!

Bye bye for now!

The bag and scarf look great! That's a good idea for worn out wool socks and slippers. Thanks for the Africam link. The boys are very interested in it. We went on it right away, but it's nighttime there and no animals.

The bag looks fantastic - you are so talented . . . I'm not sure I can handle getting hooked on something as much as I was hooked on the eagles ;-)!
