The End of an Era

Yesterday was a sad day at our house. Our wonderful 15 year old Airedale, Cleo, became very ill the night before. After we got the results from her blood work and ultrasound, which were all badly out of whack, we made the only decision we could and she died yesterday afternoon. We were both there with her and I am amazed at how well we both did. I think knowing that she had the best life any dog could have and that she didn't deserve to suffer, made us realize that this was the last and best thing we could do for her. We will always miss her and she will always bring a smile to our hearts.

This is one of my favourite Cleo pictures. She absolutely loved the snow and just raced around and used her face as a snowplow and this is the result.

I leave tomorrow morning to drive to Ottawa to spend time with Shannon and the boys. I am taking my computer and camera and hope to get some cute pics of Pete and David.

Bye bye for now.

So sorry to hear about Cleo! Two of my cats turned 10 on April 24, and I'm dreading the day anything ever happens to one of them! I am a total softee. I've had my three cats longer than I've had my kids!

Tim sends his sympathy as well. His dog is 14 and was very sick last night. He was very upset about today. His mother called and said Toby was eating today, so now he's feeling better.

Oh, dear, I am so sorry! I guess when she saw the snow melting, she figured that was enough for her! At least the perscription you've had her on these last several months gave her some new found energy and freedom. I reckon by now she's up there some where, barking and wagging her tail at her Nan.
Miss Maggs will miss her as well, won't she ? Give my love to the Bertel clan, and stay safe !

Kisses from Debbie

She was the best dog ever . . . I remember when she was a tiny pup and fit in your hand. And got in a lot of trouble :-) And ate a lot of your furniture!! She was a big part of our family and will remain in our hearts forever!
