Shawl Progress

It has been a while since I last updated my blog. We were away last weekend, July 8 - 10, in Ottawa for David's christening and had a lovely visit with Shan and family. Both boys are growing like weeds and David is crawling around everywhere, pulling himself up and getting into everything. They will be here for a week in August, so we will get lots of pictures. I of course forgot to take my camera to Ottawa with me.

On a sadder note, my dear, dear friend lost her battle with breast cancaer on Wednesday. She was one of the most wonderful people I have ever known and I am honoured to be her friend. I am taking this opportunity to post a link to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation site, in case you are interested in checking it out. And remember to have regular mammograms and do monthly breast examinations!!

I have been working on my shawl, the Lily of the Valley pattern and must confess here and now that there are a lot of mistakes, but they have been neatened up by needle and thread and are not blatantly obvious. I would never get it finished if I kept pulling it out every time a nupp didn't get completely caught up on the purl stitch and needed to be manually fixed. I am not able to figure out how to pick up dropped stitches with all the yarn overs and knit 2 togethers, so I have to back up 1 row at a time. Once it was 6 rows! So you see my dilemma, either never get it finished, or live with a shawl that is not perfect, but still looks great!! Or at least, I think so:

Till next time....
Bye bye for now!

Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog. Your shawl is looking great. Lots of progress! And I can't see ripping back all the time to fix mistakes. I'd drive myself crazy doing that. Mind you, I've been too chicken to attempt an intricate lace shawl so far, eventhough the yarn and patterns are sitting being patient for some time now.
To answer your question about that gray skirt on my blog, I snipped the yarn in one spot at the row I needed to be finished at and just unpicked that one row. Then I did a crochet cast off as per The Harlot's tutorial couple weeks ago. It was easy. Now I can sew the other seam and stitch in the elastic and it will finally be done.

I will be posting information re my Breast Cancer Run on my blog soon for people who would also like to donate there. She was such a wonderful person, and touched the lives of so many, many people.

She will be dearly missed.

The shawl really is starting to look amazing.
