Should I enter the Knitting Olympics

My friend Barb and I went to Mahone Bay today to do some shopping and have lunch at the Inlet Cafe. I had the ever popular Mussel Soup and I must say that it was particularly delicious today. The broth seemed to be really creamy. Next we went to The Mahone Bay Trading Centre and I couldn't believe the selection of shoes they have there now. It is bacially a Clarks shoe store. At least half of the store is shoes now and most of them are the Clarks brand. I am not buying any shoes till I get my orthotics, but I did manage to pick up a few things. Then it was on to the yarn shop. I bought yarn to knit a sweater for Shannon. The pattern for the sweater is really interesting and should be fun to knit. (I scanned the pattern and if you click on it, you can see it better.) And I bought the loveliest purple wool for it......called Wool Gatto, made in Italy. It is really soft and totally washable!!! Which will be a huge asset to a busy mom with 2 little ones.

I have been reading some of blogs tonight and notice that several people are doing this Olympic knitting thing. Sounds like it might be fun..I am half tempted to enter the Knitting Olympics myself. I could do the sweater for Shan. It would be a challenge to finish in 16 days though. And that is one of the rules. Maybe I will. I definitely have to decide soon though!!

So now I am off to knit the second slipper for Lauren and should have it finished by tomorrow night so I would be able to start the sweater on Friday.

Bye bye for now!

You'll have to make your mind up really soon - I think the Knitting Olympics entries close at midnight tonight.

Nice sweater pattern you have picked out. I like Sirdar stuff a lot. I finished that baby sweater today. I should have pics of it posted tomorrow night.

I agree with Sheri, I think the deadline to sign up is tonight; check out the yarn harlot to find out for sure.

I think you should go for it.

I'm knitting a baby blanket. I don't like knitting baby things :)

I like that sweater pattern, much too complicated for me though. Can't wait to see pics of it in progress.

I'll let you know when I'm heading down your way.

The Yarn Harlot ?!?! Donna, WHO are you talking to out there ???? Olympics... my gawd, you're all mad. Check this out... people in the Shetland Islands are desperate for knitters, they've done a bit about it on BBC Breakfast News, today, and if experienced knitters want to do piecework, they're begging for bodies.
